Kpangbala Sengbe is a board-certified psychotherapist based in Philadelphia, USA, with extensive experience in treating individuals facing a range of mental health challenges including trauma, depression, grief, behavioral issues, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, and autism spectrum disorder. His therapeutic approach combines individual, couple, family, and group interventions with eco-systemic and culturally competent practices. Kpangbala specializes in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and behavioral modification, working with diverse populations in schools, outpatient clinics, and community settings. He has provided care for underserved communities across several U.S. cities and has dedicated much of his work to supporting refugees and immigrants, particularly African survivors of war and displacement.
Internationally, Kpangbala has served with the United Nations Development Program and UNICEF, delivering trauma-informed care and program development for ex-combatants, including former child soldiers, in conflict-affected African countries such as Liberia and Chad. He has also shared his expertise at African psychological conferences in Kenya, Uganda, and beyond. In Liberia, he held senior government roles, including Junior Minister of Health, Chief of Staff to the Minister of Finance, and Program Manager at the Governance Commission. Notably, he led the development of the Liberia Rising 2030 national vision document and contributed to the creation of a national civic education curriculum under the leadership of the late Professor Amos Sawyer.
